The 2013 id² conference, hosted and funded by UCL CoMPLEX, aims to bring together students, from doctoral training centres in the UK and abroad, with a shared interest in the application and development of tools from mathematics, physics, computer science and engineering to problems in biomedical science. The format will consist of student talks, a poster session, as well as plenary lectures by external speakers.
The theme of the conference is the role of quantitative tools and modelling techniques in addressing questions in the biomedical sciences at the level of the protein, cell, tissue, and organism. The aim is to facilitate academic discussion among students working on similar research problems at different institutions in a social environment that encourages the exchange of ideas. We expect that the topics represented will include cancer research, neurobiology, cell biology, cardiovascular science, and genetics.
Participating Doctoral Training Centres are invited to nominate a representative for the id² committee, who can provide input on the research interests of the students at their DTC.
Programme and travel information will be provided in due course.
